Ailsa Horizons

LEADER 'Enterprising Communities'Project

One of Ailsa Horizons' main activities for 2009/10 is the implementation of the 'Enterprising Communities Project' which is jointly funded by the Ayrshire Leader programme, South Ayrshire Council and the local Horizons group. The project is working with villages to carry out community appraisals and action plans which communities can then take forward.

The appraisal and action plan process will feed into the Economnic Development Strategy of the Carrick Community Councils' Forum (CCCF), South Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership and national strategies.

Key issues that the appraisals will address include:

- To facilitate the formulation of realistic achievable village-level development plans

- To build links amongst rural communities and between rural communities and wider networks

- To explore the potential for Business Development, identifying opportunities and where established businesses can work together

-To work with community groups to identify the needs from their local community, fit these within the community action plans and then work with groups to implement action plans

Creative and innovative ways of engaging with the communities are in progress. If you would like more information please contact the team.
